    The English 9 Summer Booster refresher aims to sharpen indispensable writing skills essential for success in the freshmen year of high school. Over the three-week session, students will concentrate on three key areas crucial for achievement in English 9 and beyond: mastering the ABCDE and MLA formats, refining the structure of the 5-paragraph essay, and acquiring practical skills like professional emailing and crafting compelling presentations. Teacher: Meg McClure - These classes are not for credit, and are intended as a booster/refresher of material from the previous year. - Classes will show a grade requirement that matches students' grades in the fall (i.e. a summer booster program for kindergarteners will show a 1st grade requirement, as they have finished/graduated from kindergarten) - When registering please select the applicable fee.   • Equine Summer Camp

    Learn everything there is to know about horses at Renaissance Equestrian Center! Students will enjoy learning how to care for the horses, daily horse crafts and games, demonstrations of different riding techniques, scavenger hunts, trail riding and learning how to tack/untack a horse. Students will be riding in a lesson everyday and helmets will be provided. A pizza lunch will be provided on the last day of camp each session and each student will receive a camp t-shirt that they will get to tie-dye at camp! Instructor: Renaissance Equestrian Center

    Inspire the inventor and scientist in this Ultimate STEM-Makers Camp! Campers will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important of all----their mind! With a little bit of ingenuity children will create catapults and forts, and even construct their own working Light Sabers to take home!! While Thomas Edison said “invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration”, this camp is 100% FUN! Daily themes include: Do Like da Vinci; Modern & Medieval Machines; Edison, Bell, & Tesla; Awesome Inventions; and Shipwrecked Shelters!     Welcome to Spanish! This course is specifically designed for 5th through 7th graders who would like to start their Spanish language journey. Throughout the course students will learn Spanish through games and activities, engage in cooperative storytelling, and practice speaking in the target language! At the end of these six weeks, students will have developed foundational language skills as well as an appreciation for Spanish language and culture.

  • Exploring Global Cuisines

    Join Certified Pastry Chef and Saline High School Culinary Arts instructor, Danielle Phelps, for a week of traveling the globe through food. Each day we will punch our passport for a new culinary destination. We will travel to Mexico, Italy, China, France, and the Mediterranean to explore the cuisines by making both an entreé and dessert. Campers will learn both cooking and baking methods and apply them while using a variety of international ingredients such as cheeses, herbs, and spices. Instructor: Danielle Phelps
  • Fairy on the Fly: Fairy Flight School

    How do fairies learn to fly? They learn from each other and their other winged friends such as bees, butterflies and dragonflies. We’ll take a tour from a fairy-eye’s view of what it’s like to fly, care for wings, and then make some special fairy wing crafts of our own to take home. Participants will make new fairy friends, enjoy fairy fun and games, plus savor a special sparkly fairy snack. Instructor: Gaynor Meilke

    Summer is the perfect time to spin some sparkly new fairy stories, starting with a new Fairy on the Fly edition. Each participant will receive the new book and we’ll make a no-sew reading pillow to keep it in and read with this summer. Participants will also make their own sparkling summer fairy story book and enjoy fun, games, friends, plus a special fairy snack!Instructor: Gaynor Meilke
  • Fall Cheerleading Clinic

    This is a chance for young 5s thru 5th grade to practice and cheer with the Varsity cheer team at Saline! The kids will have a pregame performance, then be able to cheer the first half of a Varsity football game on October 4th. Coaches will let you know what time to arrive to the game for the performance! The clinic includes two practice days, cheering at a Varsity game, a tshirt and a bow!     Get your child ready for second grade success with our First Grade Literacy Boost! Tailored for exiting first graders and incoming second graders, this course focuses on reinforcing essential foundational literacy skills crucial for academic achievement. Through engaging activities and targeted instruction, students will strengthen phonics skills for decoding and encoding, enabling them to read and write with confidence. As we progress, students will participate in engaging group writing games to reinforce phonics skills, inspire confidence in their abilities, and grow their love of learning.   • First Grade Phonics Booster

    This class is a 4 week summer intense for exiting 1st graders interested in reviewing previously taught phonics skills. 1st grade is a monumental year for student reading achievement due to the breadth of phonics skills taught. A current SAS 1st grade teacher will be leading small groups in reviewing skills like: short vowels, blends/digraphs, silent e, word endings and more. They will also practice using reading strategies to help decode these words, along with incorporating it into their writing. The goal is to reinforce phonics skills, prevent summer slide, and to build reading confidence. There will be lessons, games, and activities all used to enhance reading and writing associated with these phonics skills.   • Getting Paid to Talk: An Introduction to Professional Voice Over

    If you’ve ever wondered how to begin in voice over part time, full time, or for supplemental or retirement income, this workshop is a great, upbeat and, most importantly, realistic first step. Our easy-to-access remote learning system will take you behind the scenes at Voice Coaches main studios, where we regularly produce voice over content for clients including Netflix, Discovery, HGTV, Disney, Lifetime, Nickelodeon, and many more. From audio books, training material, animation, and commercials to socially relevant content, television, and much, much more: today’s voice over field has become a great way to leverage your individual voice qualities and communication skills in a whole new way. This class also includes an opportunity to receive a brief one-on-one voice range and quality assessment with our instructor. We sincerely hope you’ll join our community of enthusiastic learners!     Join the 2023-24 Saline Girls Basketball team and develop the fundamental skills of the game in a fun and exciting environment! Girls interested in participating on school teams and travel teams are strongly encouraged to attend. A fun, competitive atmosphere with contests, drills, and games will be provided. Whether your player is just picking up a lacrosse stick for the first time or aiming to refine their techniques - this is the camp for you.
