Intro to FiddlingYouth Music and TheatreJoin the Saline Fiddlers for an unforgettable summer workshop experience! This fun, new program is designed to ignite a passion for Fiddle music in young musicians. This workshop is designed for those in 6-8th grades who have at least one year of experience on violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, or mandolin. Learn a variety of fiddle music from Saline Fiddlers past & present. Whether you have played fiddle music before or are just starting out, you’ll discover new skills and create beautiful music together. Program prerequisite: 1 year or equivalent of 5th grade orchestra, must have own instrument. Saline Fiddlers String SummitYouth Music and TheatreThis four-half day course offers a unique opportunity for aspiring string musicians to experience the excitement and artistry of the renowned Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic. This workshop is designed for student string musicians, grades 9-11, who are interested in exploring different musical styles, enjoy performing, want to develop stage presence and seek to connect with other talented string players. During the workshop students will receive insight and guidance from Saline Fiddlers past & present, enhance musicality and build confidence as performers on violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar and mandolin. Students who express interest may also have an opportunity to learn Appalachian step dancing. Program prerequisite: performing in school orchestra program. Saline Summer BandYouth Music and TheatreThe Saline Summer Band is a large concert band consisting of students entering grades 6-9 in September. Students need to have one year of band experience in their school band program to participate. Students from other school districts are welcome. We spend each class rehearsing fun music from many different styles to perform on a concert and ice cream social on Thursday evening, July 24th. Summer OrchestraYouth Music and TheatreSaline Community Education will be offering Summer Orchestra four days a week at Heritage School from 9:30-10:30 am. Class will be meeting Monday-Thursday from June 23rd until July 24th (no class on July 4th). This class is ideal for students who have 1-4 years of school orchestra experience who are looking for a fun, supportive environment to make music. Students that participate will be sure to have their skills sharpened and their musicianship challenged in group rehearsals and performance. Additional activities could include the Ice Cream Social Concert on July 24th, Fun Field Trips, and performing the national anthem at a Toledo Mud Hens Home Game. Class ID: 5206.
