10 Person Basketball Workouts with Coach HotoppYouth RecreationThis hour-long program is designed to introduce the fundamentals of the game of basketball in a fun and instructive environment. We will focus on ball handling, shooting,and passing through games and competitions. This program is open to all girls and boys currently in Kindergarten. The boys lacrosse program plans to field teams at the 5/6th and 7th/8th grade levels.They will practice on a regular basis starting March 13th ending in late May. 5th/6th and 7th/8th will practice Monday - Thursday with some games during the week and on weekends. Horseback Riding - Winter & Spring 2023Youth RecreationChildren ages 5 to 17 and ranging in skill level from beginner to advanced are welcome to attend these lessons.Ability will be evaluated on the first day.You will learn all about horses including how to saddle, brush and groom the horse as well as how to clean its hooves.You will also learn how to ride in a basic balance position and to have fun while being safe and educated at the same time.Participants should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for weather conditions including shoes or boots with heels, a shirt with sleeves and stretch or stirrup-type pants.Also, please bring a riding helmet if you have one; otherwise, a bike helmet will work.One makeup session will be permitted during each session. This is an introduction to horseback riding. The class is one hour long, and we will work on basic horse care and stable management will be stressed. This includes hoof care, tack used, grooming tools, horse colors and markings. The first class is an introduction with the group, letting children know what we will be doing each visit. We will have one or two horses to groom and get ready to ride. Depending on the group, we will limit time riding with the rest working on basic horse care. All will tradeoff riding. Sixth Grade TrackYouth RecreationSixth grade track is for those students who may be interested in running track at the middle school and high school levels, or who simply want to learn more about the sport in a positive team environment. This program will allow sixth graders to participate in track meets, learn about the various events, and improve their current fitness level. Emphasis will also be placed on goal setting and proper training. Payment/registration is due online here through Community Education. Physicals/other forms are due to the Athletic Department through Big Teams. Sports Physicals: For the 2022-23 school year, an MHSAA pre-participation sports physical is required for all students who participate in sports. A physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2022 to be considered a valid physical for 2022-23. The MHSAA Health Questionnaire will not be in use. The MHSAA two-page physical form has not changed and remains on MHSAA.com. MHSAA physical cards can be ordered by schools as needed. NO ONE can start the season without payment/registration to CE, BigTeams registration, AND uploading a physical (signed by a doctor between April 15, 2022 - present).
