Come play card and board games, build with blocks, enjoy dramatic play, arts and crafts, games in the gym, and more, all in a school setting supervised by State of Michigan and Saline Area Schools vetted employees.
Strengthen your creative flow, move past writer’s block, or experiment with new ways of storytelling. Devised theatre is an accessible, holistic approach to creating original work, and is applicable to any field. This 5-session workshop integrates aspects of theatre, film, design, music, literature, poetry, performance art, science, and technology based on participants’ backgrounds and interests. Students will create and perform original works through personal reflection and group collaboration culminating in a final showcase. By the end of the class, students should be able to:
1) Understand and implement a variety of methodologies individually and in ensemble settings
2) Contribute creatively to ensemble, partner, and individual projects
3) Reflect and articulate their identities as artists
4) Apply devised theatre methods to real-world, non-creative outlets
5) Display confidence in giving and receiving critical feedback
6) Create an original devised theatre piece and performance
No previous theater or performance experience required. Students should bring a notebook and pen with them and wear clothing for movement. This workshop will cover some performance fundamentals but is not an acting or methods class.
